Problem
There is a critical shortage of special education professionals who are equipped—and willing—to serve and persist in urban schools. This gap disproportionately impacts students with disabilities in under-resourced communities.
Envision’s Support
We build fellows’ cultural and professional capacity through hands-on experience, reflective supervision, and school-based practice. Our model prepares them to navigate complex school environments with confidence and care.
Results
75% of fellows elect to pursue Title IV and/or urban school placements after completing their fellowship. They leave with the mindset, skills, and support systems to make a lasting impact where they’re needed most.
What They Said
“This fellowship has expanded my thinking significantly when it comes to my role as an SLP and the individuals we serve. Most of all, I feel I understand more about individuals in my own life and in my own city. Moving forward I think I have more tools to serve as an ally for individuals in my life and individuals who I serve.”
“I am so glad I did this fellowship. It wasn’t always easy at times, but it helped me learn so much and has given me a different perspective on aspects I had not considered before.”
